With no debate, Saugeen Shores Council has voted unanimously to let a local service club have its name on a new accessible playground at Southampton’s Jubilee Park.
On October 19th, the two clubs told council they were each giving 25 thousand dollars towards the new accessible playground.
The 50 thousand dollar donation allows them to having naming rights, and council has agreed to let the facility be called the Rotary Accessible Playground.
Mayor Mike Smith says the donation is just another of many projects the two clubs have got behind over the years.
He says it also brings fundraising very close to its 250 thousand dollar fundraising goal.
95 thousand dollars are still left to be raised.
Smith says other groups are interested in contributing, so he hopes the playground can be built in 2010.
The accessible playground is designed to be used by children — and adults regardless of physical limitation.
