Ontario’s poppy campaign is getting underway.
Lieutenant Governor David C. Onley was presented with the first poppy today by the First Vice President of the Royal Canadian Legion.
The poppy campaign is to raise awareness of the service and sacrifice of past and present soldiers in the Canadian Armed Forces.
The poppy was adopted in 1921 by the Great War Veterans Association.
19 million poppies are given out across Canada each year.
