The H1N1 flu virus has been a hot topic for the last few months.
Kids at school are getting hand washing lessons and now the flu vaccine will be given out in our area in November.
But many people may still not know what symptoms to watch for.
A Collingwood woman who has had the swine flu, Darlene Cole, tells us it’s nothing to mess with.
She says she was very sick for a total of three weeks, but there were two or three days where she had a fever of 104, had a pounding headache and couldn’t even remember her name or where she was.
Cole says she also needed assistance just getting up out of bed and getting to the bathroom and she couldn’t eat for 4 days.
She says she won’t be getting the H1N1 vaccine because she’s been advised not to since she’s already had the virus, but she strongly recommends everyone get it.
Cole tells us the virus has changed her life.
She constantly uses disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer and won’t shake hands with someone who has the sniffles or other signs of being sick.
