Another public meeting is set for tonight on Owen Sound’s planned upgrade to its’ wastewater treatment plant.
The open house begins at 6 PM at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Project consultants and members of the operations advisory committee will be there to meet the public and answer questions.
It will be followed by a formal presentation during which the preferred recommendations for the upgrades will be outlined.
But Councillor Bill Twaddle, operations committee chair, says nothing is definite yet and public input into the process is definitely welcome.
The price tag of the project keeps rising, he says, making it especially vital that members of the community keep apprised of what is happening.
It was estimated in 2006 that the project would cost $45 million, two-thirds to be paid by the federal and provincial governments.
But its now believed the project cost will be in the neighbourhood of $65 million by the time work can finally begin in 2013.
Twaddle says more government funding for the project will be sought.
