It is not too late to catch the last hurrah of the fall fairs in the area.
The Walkerton Little Royal Fair starts today and runs through until Sunday.
It is the last big fair in the area before the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto.
Today is school children’s day and there is 4H judging on going throughout the fairgrounds.
Plenty of activities for the kids to be involved in – even a blacksmith demonstration.
The midway opens at 3 PM and runs until 9 PM.
Secretary Treasurer Marlene Berry says the big event on Saturday is the Heavy and Light Horse Pulls and the stands are always packed.
Saturday also features the pet show – all the home craft and agriculture exhibits – as well as a roast beef dinner at 5 PM.
Berry says you’ll want to come back on Sunday for breakfast – the farmers olympics and the kid’s pedal tractor pull.
She says the growing season was not the best for many farmers – but the agriculture exhibits are still strong.
Berry says there is plenty for the entire family to do and the midway is open all weekend.
Everything is at the Walkerton Fairgrounds and admission is 5 dollars.
Students only have to pay a toonie.
