A fire at Pilkington Glass in Collingwood could have been a lot worse than it was.
Fire Chief Trent Elyea tells us the blaze Wednesday afternoon was contained to one area thanks to a couple of quick thinking employees.
Elyea says two staff grabbed the hoses from the hose cabinets in the plant and worked the fire right away until firefighters arrived.
The chief says the fire caused about 25 thousand dollars damage which isn’t significant for a factory and no one was hurt.
He tells us the blaze started in racks of cardboard that were piled up.
Elyea says it was likely an oversight that the cardboard was piled against the heaters and when they came on, the pile was lit.
