Proposed changes to Bluewater Park in Wiarton will not be moving forward anytime soon.
South Bruce Peninsula Council does not want to bring in outside help for the proposed changes to Bluewater Park.
A motion was defeated Tuesday night to hire Stempski Kelly Associates for a cost of 132 thousand dollars.
Mayor Gwen Gilbert did not vote because she declared a conflict of interest.
Some of the proposed changes to the park include a new tourist centre, pathways, a winter storage facility and relocating the boat launch.
The changes would eliminate about 50 campsites in the park and several of the campers are strongly opposed.
Councillor Dan Kerr voted in favour of the motion because they do not have anyone qualified to design the project on town staff.
Kerr says they will not get the almost one million dollars in government funding if they do it in house.
He says they need the consultants to help finalize the plans and complete the fine tuning.
Kerr says he is unsure of how council will proceed from this point.
Several of the councillors who voted against the motion were opposed to how much the consultants would cost the municipality.
The issue will come before the Committee of the Whole next Tuesday.
