Kincardine Council has approved two architecture tenders for major projects that are coming up in the municipality.
The first is worth over 59 thousand dollars and goes to the Ventin Group for the proposed restoration of the Arts Centre, located in the old town hall.
Councillor Gordon Campbell questioned how many bids were submitted, and CAO John de Rosenroll told him that two firms submitted proposals.
Mayor Larry Kraemer says Ventin is the same firm used to design the newly completed addition on the Davidson Centre.
Councillor Guy Anderson says Ventin had nothing to do with the delays on completing the addition, which were caused by a steel supplier going bankrupt.
The municipality has already received 993 thousand dollars in federal and provincial infrastructure money for the arts centre project.
The second tender is for the addition of a new gymnasium and warm viewing area at the Davidson Centre and goes to Strasman Architects at a cost of over 268 thousand dollars.
The municipality also received federal and provincial money for that project.
The Strasman bid was the highest, others came in at 195 thousand and 170 thousand.
Mayor Larry Kraemer says Strasman won out in the weighted evaluation process that looked at experience and qualifications.
