He isn’t giving it an outright endorsement, but the Mayor of Huron-Kinloss says wind farm moratorium being proposed by Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch will likely find some public support.
Mitch Twolan says there many residents of Huron-Kinloss who are concerned — and have complained of health effects due to wind turbines and can see why Murdoch is planning to introduce a resolution in the legislature asking for future windfarms to be put on hold until the health effects can be studied.
Twolan says the province has tried to resolve many of the concerns through the Green Energy Act, but the health concerns remain a concern for many people.
He says there can never be enough information when it comes to exploring the health issues.
Twolan says Murdoch’s proposal to have a study done might be good timing because it would happen before any further windfarm construction takes place.
Murdoch’s resolution is expected to be debated at Queen’s Park on October 29th and comes after over 200 people attended recent public forums on wind turbines held by the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
