Ducks Unlimited is pleased with a recent announcement by the leaders of Canada, the U-S and Mexico.
The integrated platform for climate changed announced by Stephen Harper, Barack Obama and Felipe Calderon identifies the importance of sustainability managed wetlands in reducing greenhouse gases.
Ducks Unlimited Manager of Industry and Government Relations, Cynthia Edwards. says they’ve been trying to get recognition of managed landscapes in climate change reduction for the past 10 years.
Edwards says when carbon offsets are generated by restoring a wetland, a water quality and biodiversity benefit is created too.
She notes it also helps the landscape adapt to climate change.
