Just like the mail, the rain won’t stop a dedicated group of cyclists who will peddle their way from Port Elgin to Owen Sound this morning.
The fourth annual Ride into Light one of a number of events held during Mental Illness Awareness week to inform and educate the public about the issues surrounding Mental Illness
Grey Bruce Canadian Mental Health Association spokesperson Jackie Ralph says the ride begins at 8:30 AM in Port Elgin and should end at Owen Sound City Hall around 11:30 PM.
She says about 20 riders will hit the road and their route will take then through Tara, Kilsyth and into Owen Sound.
Ralph says the cyclists will be wearing bright yellow shirts and there will be several escort vehicles accompanying them as well.
She says anyone who wants to join in and ride with them for a time along the route is more than welcome to do so.
When the group rolls into Owen Sound they will be greeted by Owen Sound Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners
Ralph says the Ride into Light initially began when three people a rode across Canada four years ago, and the response was so good when they arrived in Grey Bruce, the association decided to initiate a local ride the next year.
