This is Fire Prevention Week and the Hanover Fire Department is marking the occasion with a special open house tonight.
The public to drop by the fire station meet the firefighters and take a tour from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM tonight.
Fire Chief Ken Roseborough says the public can also try out a simulated fire extinguisher, target shoot with the fire hose, take in a hazard house demonstration and try on the fire gear.
Roseborough says this hands on approach to fire prevention education is a big hit for all ages.
Elementary school children are reminded to bring their Great Escape plans outlining how they would escape their home in the event of a fire.
Each child that brings his or her safety plan to the open house will receive a free McDonalds Happy Meal provided by McDonalds.
As part of Fire Prevention week — you are also reminded to change your smoke detector batteries and ensure the family has a fire escape plan.
