Former Liberal candidate in the last federal election and former executive assistant to MP Paul Steckle, is back on the Ottawa scene.
Greg McClinchey is now the executive assistant for Judy Sgro the Member of Parliament for York West and the Official Opposition Critic for Seniors and Pensions.
McClinchey says he took the job about a month ago because it offered the challenges of dealing with pensions and seniors which he heard loud and clear during the last election.
It was just a few weeks ago that McClinchey said he was getting out of the political arena to focus on his family which includes his wife and two young children.
He says he has moved the family to Ottawa and he is focussed on being a father to his children while still doing the work he wants to do.
McClinchey says obviously he has resigned as a councillor in North Huron but is pleased with the work that was accomplished by that council while he was a member.
He says he’s not ruling out returning to that area to resume if municipal political career as well.
McClinchey says Judy Sgro and the Liberal party want to make sure that the federal pension program is secure and that private savings for pensions is secure as well.
He says Sgro is organizing a forum on just that subject which will likely be held in late October.
