A South Bruce OPP officer has been named Auxiliary Liaison Officer of the year.
Constable David Hackney received the honour in Orillia in early September
He is an officer in the Naval Reserve and worked as a teacher prior to joining the OPP in January 2001.
Hackney feels the combination of his background and the enthusiasm of the hard working Auxiliary members contributes to his success as the unit liaison.
He developed, mentored and trained Auxiliary Officers with the Huron and Grey County units, before establishing a unit for Southern Bruce County.
The Accolade Awards committee notes Hackney’s duty, commitment and loyalty were reasons for his award.
