The group Epilepsy Grey Bruce hopes to use the big crowd at Pumpkinfest in Port Elgin this weekend to raise awareness about the disorder.
Volunteer Mary Halbert — who has suffered with epilepsy for 27 years — will be at the annual festival today and tomorrow.
Halbert says she hopes to educate some of the 60 thousand people who are expected at Pumpkinfest.
Epilepsy is a common chronic neurological disorder characterized by recurrent unprovoked seizures.
It affects as many as 1 in 100 people — and Halbert says anyone at anytime can develop epilepsy.
Halbert also hopes to be able raise some funds this weekend to help find a cure.
