Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller isn’t giving up on his push to end the long-gun registry.
Bill C-391 has been introduced in the House of Commons, and the local MP will speak on the issue when it comes up for second reading in a few weeks.
The bill would amend the Criminal code and the Firearms Act by repealing the Long-gun registry but would NOT change the handgun law.
Miller says the long-gun part of it has simply been a bureaucratic nightmare for farmers and hunters, while doing nothing to reduce crime.
Meanwhile, two MP’s who are working with Miller on getting the gun registry changed, will be in the area tonight.
MP Garry Breitkreuz is considered an expert on the issue, and the Bill before the house of commons was presented by MP Candice Hoeppner.
The MP’s will be at the Normanby Community Centre in Ayton for a dinner and speech on the gun-registry issue.
