South Bruce is going against the economic grain when it comes to the value of building activity.
The municipality issued 22 building permits in August.
The value of construction for the month was 7.726 million dollars — just edging out last year’s amount of 7.7 million.
Chief Building Official Don Jackson says he can’t explain why the value continues to be strong,
He says there is a good variety of residential and farm building taking place.
Jackson notes they exceeded July’s value by nearly a million dollars, and says the kind of permits being issued reflect the usual variety of building projects.
Jackson says things are looking good into the fall — he says the building department has received calls about possible projects people have planned.
