Several Bruce County Salvation Army Food Banks will have more food soon.
The 12th annual Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling Association (BASWRA) food drive is over.
General Manager Vince Cascone says over the last two weeks, drivers collected 86 hundred pounds of assorted food.
Cascone says that’s 1,140 pounds more than last year.
The drive ended Friday.
Cascone thanks all who left donations along with their regular curbside recycling for pick up.
The food is now at the Wiarton Salvation Army for distribution over the Thanksgiving period and beyond.
It will be delivered to food banks in the service areas of Saugeen Shores,
Arran-Elderslie, Huron-Kinloss, South Bruce, South Bruce Peninsula, Brockton
and Kincardine.
There will also be a truck outside our radio stations in Owen Sound and Port Elgin next Thursday, Friday and Saturday to collect food for local food banks.
