The results of Brockton 2008 Financial Audit are in.
The municipality ended the year in the black with a net financial position of 204 thousand dollars.
That is an increase of 963 thousand dollars from the year before.
The operating fund has a surplus of 748 thousand dollars of which 412 thousand dollars was new borrowing to fund a prior year deficit.
Meanwhile the capital fund ended the year on a break even bases, while the reserve fund now sits at six million dollars a 214 thousand dollar surplus over last year.
The overall debt is also down by about 48 thousand dollars however Brockton did take on 500 thousand dollars in new debt.
Gaviller and Company Partner John Bujold says Brockton is in fair financial shape.
He recommends the municipality stay the course and focus on a long term capital budgeting plan.
In 2007 the municipality ended the year in the red with a consolidated deficit of 426 thousand dollars.
Bujold say the 2008 audit paints a much rosier picture for Brockton.
