The investigation into the death of a 16 year old girl at a Big Bay home, north of Owen Sound has resulted in more charges being laid.
Ronald Smith initially was charged with criminal negligence causing death, sexual assault, sexual interference and four counts of drug trafficking.
Grey County OPP say 48 additional charges now have been laid against the 51 year old Smith who was arrested Wednesday by police.
He will be in court later today to answer to the charges.
Police say the additional charges are a result of information received in the
course of the ongoing investigation.
One of the charges relates to a historic sexual assault committed against a female victim between 1998-1999.
The victim, whose name is not being released, was 21 years of age at the time of the offence.
Smith also faces several new charges including an additional Criminal Code charge of Sexual Assault and forty-seven counts of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Police say the additional information that has been obtained from those who have come forward has assisted greatly in this case.
