Former Conservative MP Rahim Jaffer is facing charges of drunk driving and cocaine possession.
Jaffer, who’s married to Simcoe Grey MP Helena Geurgis, was arrested just after midnight last Thursday by the OPP on County Road 50 in Palgrave.
The 37 year old Jaffer has been charged with driving while over the legal blood alcohol limit, and with possession of cocaine.
His licence has been suspended for 90 days and he is to appear in court in Orangeville on October 19th.
Guergis and Jaffer were married in a quick backyard ceremony last October 15th.
That was the day after the election and Jaffer’s surprise defeat by an NDP candidate in the riding of Edmonton-Strathcona.
He was not re-nominated for the seat.
