The Bank of Canada, along with the RCMP will be in Saugeen Shores to talk about counterfeit money and other types of fraud.
Organizer Sergeant Dave Butcher of the Saugeen Shores Police service, says we’re bombarded every day with all sorts of offers and deals.
Some are legitimate — some are not.
Butcher says if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
He says when it comes to bogus bills, there will be opportunities to see the difference between the fake and the real thing.
Butcher says everyone is invited to the meeting but especially business owners and their employees should take it in.
He says if you get stuck holding a counterfeit bill, you are out the money.
If you knowingly try to pass the bogus bill on, you are committing a crime.
Tonight’s meeting goes at 7 PM at the Plex in Port Elgin.
It’s free and everyone is invited.
