Thousands of dollars are in the hands of three worthy causes thanks to those who took part in separate fundraising events this weekend.
The 29th annual Terry Fox Run was held yesterday across the country — and in Kincardine 105 people took part, raising just over 75 hundred dollars.
That is slightly down from last year.
In Saugeen Shores, Terry Fox Run organizers report 225 people took part, and that 14 thousand dollars, 4 thousand more than last year, was raised.
The Superwalk for Parkinson’s also took place yesterday.
60 people walked in Kincardine, raising a whopping 19 thousand dollars and more is still trickling in.
Organizers say this was the best year yet for the walk – the 9th annual.
The second annual Hanover Superwalk for Parkinson’s raised almost 18 thousand dollars.
The first annual Superwalk in Owen Sound raised generated 94 hundred dollars.
And the Wheelchair Relay Challenge at OSCVI in Owen Sound on Sunday was a rousing success.
Organizers collected just over 27 thousand 500 dollars yesterday, up by about five thousand from a year ago.
Mark Taylor raised nearly 25 hundred dollars on his own, and was the top fund raiser.
The top team fund raising group was Wiarton Wheelers, who brought in just over 37 hundred dollars.
