There may not be an election this fall after all.
That is the view of Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller who believes that the NDP Leader will not topple the Conservative Minority Government this Friday.
A confidence vote could come as early as Friday in the House of Commons, and it’s believed N-D-P support is critical to the Harper government’s survival.
Parliament resumes tomorrow, and many eyes will be on an N-D-P caucus meeting to see if there’s any indication about which way the party is leaning.
Larry Miller says he believes Jack Layton when he says he wants to see Parliament work, and he says the tories want it to work as well.
Miller says when is fearful of is what will happen to the stimulus spending being directed to Grey Bruce Municipalities if in fact the Government does fall this week.
He says what has already been committed will be handed out.
Miller says its the follow up and extension funding of these programs that could be in trouble if the government falls and the last thing that is needed is a disruption in the distribution of that money.
The Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP also is hoping that Parliament will continue so the government can move forward with helping out apple producers in the Blue Mountains area who were devastated by last months tornado.
He says he has spoken with Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz and believes The Agra Recovery Program will provide some disaster relief to these farmers.
