It takes a lot to stay in business a quarter of a century — especially during turbulent economic times.
That’s why Bernie McGlynn Lumber and South Bruce Flooring in Mildmay are celebrating their 25th anniversary in business.
Bernie says part of their success is moving with the times and good customer service.
He says one of the best decisions they made was building at their current location on highway 9 in Mildmay which allowed them to move into kiln dried lumber which in turn led to the expansion into trim and flooring.
McGlynn says having their retail floor section has helped them to wade through the recent economic turbulence and now makes up 50 per cent of their sales.
He says the federal government’s home renovation rebate has also helped business.
Their customer appreciation event is being held today and tomorrow at the store with a free BBQ and in-store specials.
