The owners of Chapmans Ice Cream in Markdale ARE looking their employees in the eye, vowing to rebuild.
The company says it will also continue to pay workers while the plant is rebuilt following last Friday’s fire.
David Chapman told his workers at a meeting yesterday, the insurance company will cover salaries for a year, and hourly workers’ wages for the next four months.
Several employees tell the Toronto Star, they’re not worried about what will happen following the four months.
They say the Chapmans have promised to look after them, and they believe their boss.
Distribution of Chapmans Ice Cream will continue, with several months’ worth of product currently in storage.
There’s no word on how long it will take to rebuild following the huge fire Friday.
