The 157th annual Owen Sound Fall fair kicks off this evening and President of the Owen Sound Agricultural Society Phil Bye says it is going to bigger and better.
He says the local 4-H calf show gets underway Thursday evening, and then on Friday the Regional Invitational 4 H heifer show for both beef and dairy gets underway.
Bye says that is the really big event and is the qualifying round to move on to the Royal Winter Fair and more than 200 animals will be taking part from all over Grey and Bruce.
He says produce, crafts and quilts will be on display in the coliseum and there will be a children’s play area.
Bye says two of the more popular events are the tractor pull and demolition derby.
The antique tractor pull goes Saturday morning with the Great Lakes sanctioned tractor and truck pull on Friday night then the wrap up is the massive demolition derby Saturday night in front of the grandstand.
Bye says the Owen Sound Fall fair is one of the largest in the region and draws visitors from all over the region.
He says its a great time for city and country folk alike to rub shoulders and learn a little more about their neighbours.
Bye says the Owen Sound Fall Fair runs from Thursday evening, all day Friday and all day Saturday.
