Trustees with the Bluewater District School Board will take no further action against three employees over plagiarism concerns.
Complaints were filed against Director of Education Mary Anne Alton as well as Superintendents Alana Murray and Jean Stephenson after an article was sent to a local Chamber of Commerce magazine.
The Ontario College of Teachers admonished Murray for “failing to acknowledge or attribute” where information came from in that article.
The OCT also cautioned Stephenson — saying she failed to exercise good judgement by putting her name to the article.
But the College also re-affirmed that trustees are responsible for deciding employment related matters.
Bluewater trustees say no further action will be taken against the employees, who have apologized for their error in judgement.
The board will also develop a policy to deal with plagiarism.
But a Kimberley resident will have a meeting later this month with the Bluewater board to talk about the issue.
Peter Ferguson says he will meet with the board on September 22nd to talk about what to do with three board employees and how to handle any future cases.
Ferguson — an architect — notes if his employee stole another design and presented as her own, she would be fired.
Ferguson says he expects the same from his school board.
