Artwork made with material is on display at the coliseum at the Owen Sound Fairgrounds.
Over 70 quilts will be judged and displayed for the 12th annual Fruits of Our Labour Quilt Show and Competition on September 10th until 13th.
The show is in conjunction with the Owen Sound Fall Fair running at the same time.
Coordinator Gladys Pennacchietti says each quilt is different and some require up to 300 hours of work to complete.
Pennacchietti says there are seven different categories for competition and include wall hangings and a quilt with the colour green featured.
Prizes are not just ribbons but can run up to 150-hundred dollars in cash and gift certificates.
Pennacchietti says there are about 20 volunteers that help set up the show.
Entries come from across the province.
Entries can also be from a team – as long as all quilters are recognized on the entry.
Judges are looking for workmanship, design and colour.
Two judges name the winners – but then we can vote on our favourite.
When attending the show fill out a ballot to name your favourite and then at the end of the fair ballots will be counted.
The quilter that has the most ballots in favour will win a prize.
Pennachetti says she has a quilt entered – as she has every year.
Her entry this year has taken upwards of 60 hours alone to completed.
