A Boil Water Order remains in effect for Markdale, two days after a massive blaze levelled the Chapman’s Ice Cream factory.
That means residents should not be using tap water for drinking or cooking.
Instead, they’re being told to use only boiled or bottled water.
The Grey Highlands website says bottled water is available at the Markdale Arena today and tomorrow from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
During Friday’s fire, residents were also being asked to conserve water usage to aid the firefighting efforts, but that restriction has since been lifted.
Also according to the website, most of the people from the 60 homes evacuated during the fire were allowed to return home yesterday.
However, approximately 10 homes in the immediate vicinity of the plant are still within the evacuation boundary today.
Grey Road 12 remains closed from Wellington Street to Terra Drive.
The fire was sparked by a welder’s spark around 10 o’clock Friday morning.
Chapman’s Vice President Ashley Chapman says the company will rebuild in Markdale.
