Today is a busy day for over two thousand public school teachers and 500 students in Bruce and Grey Counties.
The Bluewater District School Board is hosting a professional development day with Canadian author and children’s activist Marc Kielburger
The co-founder of the “Free the Children” Foundation will focus on the school board’s character attributes and discuss the ‘ Me to We ‘ philosophy.
Director of Education Mary Anne Alton says the philosophy empowers young people to change the lives of others.
The keynote address begins at 9:30 AM at the Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound.
Students and staff from 42 schools in Grey Bruce will also travel to Toronto on October 5th to participate in a special ‘ We Day ‘ to celebrate the power of young people.
Kielburger’s brother Craig started a school based club to raise funds and awareness of child labour at the age of 12 in 1995.
Since then — “Free the Children” has grown around the world with a million members.
The brothers have also published a book about the ‘ Me to We ‘ philosophy.
