Plans are being finalized for an ambassador’s visit to Meaford.
Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Canada will arrive in time to kick off the Meaford International Film Festival which starts September 3rd.
He’ll be here to view the award-winning film Tulpan, shot in his homeland.
The honoured guest will also tour the municipality.
Tulpan has won awards at film festivals in Cannes, Tokyo and Zurich, as well as from the British Film Institute.
Meaford Mayor Francis Richardson says the local festival has outdone itself this year in bringing not only this particular film but an ambassador as well and says they’ll roll out the red carpet.
Meaford Hall’s Director of Marketing and Communications Barb Potter presented council with a watercolour done by local artist Gary Chick –which will be given to the ambassador during his visit.
She says this is a wonderful promotional opportunity for the film festival and Meaford itself.
