The Friends of the Kincardine Hospital will simply fight harder.
That statement from the Chair of the group Gregg McClelland – following a story we reported on last week.
As we told you last Wednesday, Kincardine Mayor Larry Kraemer was told at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference, there would be no de-almagamation of the Kincardine Hospital from the South Bruce Grey Health Centre.
McClelland says the group is not surprised by the news, and that perhaps now, it’s time to “take the gloves off.”
He says they’ve been through the proper channels within the Ministry of Health and the Local Health Integration and continue to get nowhere.
McClelland also says he has not spoken with the mayor on the issue, and is disappointed he or anyone from the group was not given a call about the issue, once it came to light.
He says he does not believe the Mayor fought on behalf of the group and their desire at AMO either.
The group will now get ready for an upcoming meeting in Kincardine with the Southwest LHIN, to push for the de-almagamation even more.
The FOKH is upset about recent cut backs at the hospital, including the removal of services including out patient physiotherapy and some staff.
McClelland says the group feels it is getting the short end of the stick, with the SBGHC CEO – living in Meaford, running a hospital in Kincardine, and moving administration and human resources to Walkerton so they are “closer to him”.
