The fiddles and banjos are a-plenty in Lions Head this weekend.
The 29th edition of the Lion’s Head Country Music Festival continues today and tomorrow with many singers and musicians from far and near.
The main event happens at the community centre at 3 PM today.
There is also the Sunday Gospel event starting at 12:30 PM with the closing jam session at 5 PM
Festival Chair Gail Brinkman says there are plenty of great country acts performing — including the fiddling Beckett Family from Kemble, young Alliston area singer Naomi Bristow and veteran Paisley singer Jim Beech.
The committee is hoping for a good turnout — although numbers were down last year.
Brinkman says the festival started as a small event 29 years ago but has grown to include several days.
Tickets are 35 dollars each and can be purchased at the door.
There is also camping available.
The festival has donated over 250 thousand dollars to community projects over the years.
The event had been in jeopardy of ending after the volunteer base dwindled.
But Brinkman says they received notice the Rotary Club will be taking over the festival next year.
