The Township of Huron Kinloss is giving its two cents on plans by the Ministry of Transportation to repair five bridges, along with several culverts along Highway 21.
Mayor Mitch Twolan says the Road Superintendent will make comments about the extra traffic there could be on township roads if detours have to be set up.
The concern is that township side roads aren’t wide enough to handle two-way traffic and the surface of concession roads would be damaged by the extra traffic.
Twolan says the Ministry of Transportation notifies municipalities about the plans as part of the environmental assessment and detail design process.
He says there is already evidence that the MTO is gearing up to do the work. Twolan says he’s already seen Ministry vehicles, contractors, and surveyors in the area doing preliminary work.
Once the study period is complete, it will be available for public comment and an information open house will be held.
