The Local Health Integration Network will be coming to the Saugeen Shores area to explain exactly what they do.
So says Saugeen Shores Mayor Mike Smith who is attending the Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference in Ottawa.
Smith says the LHIN hosted a workshop and offered to address Bruce County as a whole and the lower tier governments on what they do.
Smith says they haven’t addressed that basic issue very well lately and Saugeen Shores is going to take them up on their offer.
Smith says health is on the minds of just about every delegate at the meeting.
Everyone is looking for doctors and ways to keep hospitals open.
Mayor Smith says he’s talked to many Mayors in different communities about the reported pending closure of the emergency department at night at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton.
He says there’s no ready-made cure, but he believes there will be a solution soon to the issue in Saugeen Shores.
Meanwhile, the mayor, as part of the Bruce County contingent, is meeting this afternoon with ministry officials to talk about the upgrade to the intersection at Alvanley and they’ll be talking about library funding as well.
The AMO meeting concludes tomorrow.
