Residents of Chatsworth are still happy with their current method of electing representatives on municipal council but not as many as before.
The township sent out another survey on whether to keep the current ward system in place for the next election or opt to elect councillors at large.
The results were close with 54 percent in favour of the status quo.
That’s a lot closer than the last survey where the results were overwhelmingly in favour of keeping the ward system.
Mayor Howard Greig says council agreed, at the time of amalgamation, to periodically get a reading on how the public felt — and they’ve done that.
Greig says there can be pitfalls with the ward system if councillors only represent their corner of the municipality but he says that hasn’t been the case in Chatsworth.
The Mayor also hinted that the issue could come up again on the 2010 municipal election ballot.
