Ottawa is about to host the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario meeting.
Bruce County, Saugeen Shores and Kincardine will be represented with issues to present to those attending.
Saugeen Shores Mayor Mike Smith says the Bruce County contingent, along with representatives from Grey County, have already scheduled a meeting with Ontario Transportation Minister Jim Bradley.
They are hoping to get some sort of resolution on the intersection at Alvanley at the Bruce/Grey county line.
Smith says they want to see an upgrade at that intersection.
He says it’s been brought up before and they want to re-visit the issue.
Smith also says with a potential emergency department service cutback at Saugeen Memorial Hospital, he’s sure the health issue in rural locales will be addressed.
Meanwhile, Kincardine Mayor Larry Kraemer is taking it one step further.
He has personally set up a meeting with Deputy Health Minister Ron Sapsford on doctor recruitment and foreign physicians — particularly transitional licences for foreign physicians.
Kraemer says the province has yet to implement transitional licensing legislation and he says, such a move could have the potential of freeing up quite a few doctors.
The AMO meetings began Sunday.
The leaders of the three main provincial parties have been invited to speak to the group.
Former journalist and now Senator Pamela Wallin is one of the keynote speakers, along with Don Drummond, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist, TD Bank Financial Group.
The AMO meetings run until Wednesday.
