Women’s Fastball players from across the region will be in Tara to aid a fellow player.
The Owen Sound Ladies Fastball League All-Stars will take on a team featuring the Chepstow Diamonds and the Owen Sound Leon’s Ladies Fastball team tomorrow afternoon at the Tara Ball Park.
Chepstow Manager Gord Lamont says the game is a fundraiser for Cheryl Scott — a former Catcher for the Diamonds who recently underwent a kidney transplant.
He also wanted to reunite Scott with the Diamonds team to support her in the recovery.
Lamont says Scott is doing quite well and though she’ll won’t be able to play in the game she will be in attendance.
Lamont says the game was originally meant to be a qualifier for the Diamonds as they tried to qualify for the Eastern Canada tournament.
He says the team did not qualify for the tournament.
But he says he continued with the plans to hold the game as away to show the girls in the Owen Sound area that there are some good players from both leagues who can compete.
Admission to the game is free but you are asked to make a donation to the Kidney Foundation.
The game is scheduled to go at 1 P.M..
