The Hunt is on the next Queen of the Furrow for Bruce County.
The next queen will be chosen at the The Bruce County Plowmens Association annual Plowing Match on Friday, September 4th near Chepstow on the farm of Pat Murray.
Bruce County Plowmans Association member Cheryl Leifso says the competition is open to young women who are residents of Bruce County and between the ages of 16 and 25.
She says the Queen of the Furrow Competition includes an interview, a speech and plowing with assistance by association members who also provide a tractor and a plow for the competition.
The winner of the competition will represent Bruce County at numerous events throughout the year including the 2010 International Plowing Match in Elgin County.
Leifso says the duties of the Queen will be to represent not just the agricultural sector of the County but also its tourism aspects as well.
She says the plowing match next month will see traditional horse, antique and modern tractor plowing as well as a BBQ at noon featuring Bruce County Beef.
Any one who wants to take part in the Queen of the Furrow competition can do so by contacting the current Queen Amber Mackie at 519-793-3865 or by email at amber_alm@hotmail.com for registration information before August 24th.
