Hanover is catching the Olympic fever.
The town is gearing up for December 28th, when the Olympic Torch will come to Hanover.
The Town’s Manager of Programs Sherri Walden says an Olympic Torch Committee has been struck and a 15 thousand dollar budget has been set aside for the event.
Walden says the committee is now in the process of brainstorming ideas on how to celebrate the momentous event.
She says this is a once in a lifetime opportunity that Hanover is not going to take for granted.
Over the next few months the Olympic Torch Committee is going to come up with ways to mark the occasion.
Walden says they are still in the very early planning stages and expects more details to come out in late summer or early Fall.
On December 28th the Olympic Torch will come through Durham, Hanover, Walkerton, Kincardine, Tiverton, Southampton, Saugeen Shores and Owen Sound.
It will also make its way through Meaford and Thornbury on December 29th.
In total the Olympic Torch will visit 1,036 communities and places of interest as Canada prepares to host the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
