A very historic old church will be celebrating its 150th Anniversary this Sunday.
The Dunblane Presbyterian Church on River Road in Saugeen Shores is the oldest church in the municipality, and among the oldest in Bruce County.
There normally isn’t an active congregation at the church and a service is only held once a year, on the first Sunday of August.
Dunblane Committee Chair Marilyn Scott says this Sunday’s celebration includes a presentation of a plaque from the municipal heritage committee just before a worship service at 2:30 in the afternooon.
Scott says the guest speaker is the Reverend David Nicholson, Moderator of the Grey-Bruce-Maitland Presbytery.
Special music and historical displays are also being featured at the celebration.
The Dunblane Presbyterian Church is maintained by a seven-member committee and is open seasonally from Victoria Day to Thanksgiving.
The old building does not have electricity and the original log frame from the pioneer days is underneath the current clapboard exterior.
Scott says they’re encouraging anyone who attends the worship service and celebrations to show up in pioneer costume.
