Police across the province want you to be safe as you head out in your boat this long weekend.
That’s why O.P.P. and Transport Canada have teamed up to collect expired recreational marine flares at any of the 165 OPP detachments.
You can hand in your flares from Saturday, August 1t to the 8th.
After that police will turn them into Transport Canada’s Office of Boating Safety to take to a certified disposal site.
Police say marine flares should be replaced after their expiry date and because of environmental concerns and the possibility they could explode, they should not be taken to a landfill.
