The message from Police is simple — make sure you include common sense on your trip this holiday weekend.
Police say they will be out in full force around the region — both on roads and water.
OPP Sergeant Dave Rektor says they are especially concentrating on the water since 15 people have died on provincial waterways this summer.
And Rektor notes only one of victims was wearing a lifejacket.
Rektor says before people head out on the water, they should make sure they have lifejackets as well as other necessities such as lights and sound devices.
Rektor says they will also have officers patrol beaches and ATV trails.
On the roads — Rektor say they will patrol the 400 series highways on the ground and in the air — but also secondary highways and roads.
He notes two fatal crashes in the last 24 hours have been on secondary roads.
The main factors were lack of attention and speed.
Rektor also encourages people to call police if they see people violating the rules of the road and water.
