The battle against Crystal Meth in Grey Bruce is picking up steam.
The Grey Bruce Crystal Methamphetamine Task Force just coming off a planning meeting and now will being to develop a community response to the problem.
Terry Sanderson is the Director of Social Services for Bruce County and one of the Co Chairs of the Task Force.
Sanderson says are now pulling together various community partners to form working groups to address the issue.
He says one of their major objectives is to develop some recommendations to deal with the Crystal Meth problem, then apply for funding from the Province to those plans can be acted on.
Sanderson says right now in Grey Bruce most addiction services are over loaded with demand for service and there is not a lot of demand for expansion, so additional funding is need to deal with the Crystal Meth issue.
He says the illicit production sale and use of Crystal Meth in Grey Bruce is growing, especially in the southern parts of the two counties in the Hanover Durham Walkerton and Chesley areas.
Sanderson says more meetings are planned for August to focus on just action should be taken right away by the Task Force.
He also says the Executive Director of the Crystal Meth Society of B-C will be speaking to the Task Force in September to outline the success they have in that Province dealing with that drug problem.
