Construction of Grey County’s first roundabout is ahead of schedule.
Grey County Warden Kevin Eccles says since breaking ground in May, the 1.5 million dollar project the Blue Mountains is now at least two weeks ahead.
He says it’s been one of those rare projects were everything is coming together smoothly, without any weather or supply issues.
Eccles says since it’s a first for Grey County, he’s very pleased to see the project advance so quickly.
He says the curbs have now been poured and paving is about to start.
However, even though the roundabout itself may be complete soon, Eccles says electrical work to be done in conjunction with Hydro One probably means it’s still on target for a projected September opening.
The traffic circle at the intersection of Grey Road 19, Grey Road 119 and Mountain Road is meant to ease traffic congestion seen around Blue Mountain Resort.
County officials say during a 24 hour period, County Road 19 typically sees about 17-thousand vehicles.
