Wasaga Beach is teaming up the the Blue Mountains to help the coast of Georgian Bay.
Council approved a motion to put together an integrated shoreline management plan that will hopefully get all municipalities on board from Penetanguishene to Tobermory.
Mayor Cal Patterson says if they have all the municipalities involved, they have a better chance of getting funding.
He says the money would be used for initiatives such as the Phragmites along the beach here in Wasaga, and for enforcing regulations.
A letter will be sent out to get other municipalities to join the initiative now that Wasaga Beach passed the motion.
The plan will be known as the Southern Georgian Bay Coastal Initiative, and it will focus on promoting an understanding of the environment along the coast, and how human activities affect the habitat there and the water quality.
