The South West Health Integration Network is hosting another public meeting tonight — this time in Owen Sound.
The community engagement session begins at 7 PM at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
The public meeting will discuss the current and future health care needs for this region.
LHIN Chair Norm Gamble says these meetings help identify what the public feels is working in the health care system and what needs improvement.
Gamble says the public input will be used by the LHIN to plan the future health care system for our region.
He says the LHIN is not about hospital closures but rather rationalizing our health care system
He says this means hospitals may look different than they did before, with some offering one type of specialized service and another a different type.
Gamble says that’s change and it inevitable.
He adds the LHIN’s goal is to make hospitals sustainable.
Gamble says they want to better utilize hospitals as well as other health care and community outreach programs.
