A new subdivision is a step closer to reality in Ripley.
Council has passed a by-law to go ahead with the application to move forward with a project for over 50 new homes.
It’s part of developer David Brown’s plans for new housing and commercial space in Ripley.
Mayor Mitch Twolan says one of the discussions and objections at the original public meeting was the location of the townhouses proposed for the subdivision and if they could possibly be moved to the east side of the property.
He says the developer has had discussions about moving them, but the Bruce County Planning Department supports the proposal as it stands.
Twolan says it’s a reflection of current planning policies in Ontario.
He says the developer is following the provincial policy statement that pushes infilling and townhouse type projects.
Twolan says Huron-Kinloss could try to make changes if they wanted, but the developer has every right to make the plans he is making — especially when support is there at the county level.
