Local public health officials are warning people about a bat found in Dufferin County that tested positive for rabies.
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health received notification of a positive rabies test in a bat on June 2nd and thankfully there was no human exposure reported at the time of the incident.
There were five rabid bats found in the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph area in last year.
Public Health officials urge people not to touch any bats or try to catch one in your home, that you should call animal control for assistance.
People should stay away from all wildlife including raccoons, foxes and stray cats and dogs.
